KOLKATA: To launch green transition program for Centre. MSMEs To reduce industrial Carbon footprintsThis was said by Aman Hans, Senior Resident Fellow, Climate Strategy and Policy, NITI Aayog at the 5th edition of the Green Industry Conclave organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Saturday.
“The upcoming national program is now in the conceptual stage, and discussions are ongoing with state governments and other stakeholders including regulatory bodies and the private sector to make it viable for MSMEs. The government’s focus is on carbon footprint in MSMEs. to reduce is to segment and then introduce decarbonizing measures such as Energy efficiencythe use of alternative fuels and the greening of electricity through various possibilities such as open access, solar panels on rooftops and virtual supply of green electricity through distribution companies,” Hans said.
He added that the Center will issue the tender soon. “Further discussions will be held with the state governments to implement the programme,” Hans added.
“Like Green energy The tariff is higher than the brown energy tariff rate, making it difficult for MSMEs to get green tariff. NITI Aayog wants to bring green energy tariffs closer to brown energy,” Hans said.
With around 9 million units, Bengal is the second largest MSME hub in India.
