According to a government statement, the Delhi government has introduced the Single Window System (SWS) to cut red tape in a major push to boost investor confidence and streamline and speed up business operations.
The online platform is designed to facilitate approvals, reduce compliance burden and promote sector-specific reforms, the statement said.
According to Delhi Industries Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj, with 59 services across 12 departments, the SWS aims to enhance regulatory efficiency and accelerate project timelines, creating a more favorable environment for investors.
Meanwhile, Saurabh Bhardwaj said that rationalization of business regulatory processes along with the introduction of information technology for e-service delivery has been a key pillar of the business reform landscape of the last decade. The statement added that a more open and transparent business regulatory environment has been created in the country through online channels.
The Industries Minister added that an investor has to obtain multiple licences/clearances from various government agencies at different levels to start a new business.
He further said that, the information about these services is divided into various Acts, Rules, Regulations etc. and spread over various places. With the introduction of the single window system, regulatory hygiene has improved significantly, and the approval process has been streamlined.
“The Single Window System is basically an online platform for investors to interact with all relevant stakeholder departments of the state. It serves as a single interface for investors to apply for all statutory approvals. works, as prescribed by the state from time to time. Hence, the implementation of the single window system reduces the burden on investors in obtaining informational and transactional services necessary for setting up a business,” Saurabh said. Delhi Minister said that Single Window System (SWS) of GNCTD is a flagship project of Delhi which is being implemented by Department of Industries, GNCTD, NIC Delhi with the help of NIC Delhi.

The Industries Minister said that 59 services across 12 stakeholder departments have been added to the SWS platform so far.
“More specifically, 37 services of 7 stakeholder departments of GNCTD namely Labor Department, Municipal Corporation Department, Delhi Pollution Control Committee, Weights and Measures, Delhi Jal Board, (Power Discom) Tata Power, B.S. ES, and BRPL, and the Department of Industries, have been included on the Single Window System in the first phase of the development plan.
