The central government is working on a web portal, Udyami Bharat, where micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) entrepreneurs can access details of all the sector-related schemes run by various ministries. Can, said a senior government official familiar with the development.

“The Ministry of MSME is planning to create a new portal for entrepreneurs with an investment of Rs 130 crore, where they can get all the details related to their sector after entering their Entrepreneur Registration Number,” he said. said the official.

The government official, who did not want to be named, said they have partnered with technology company Nexi for the project.

“The first phase will start by September 2024, during which the Ministry of MSME will integrate its schemes through API (Application Programming Interface). After the launch, a team of 15 people will work on the project. It will be hosted by NIC Cloud. will be done,” the official said.

An email query sent to the MSME ministry did not receive a reply till the time of going to press.

As of December 2023, more than 30 million MSMEs were registered in the country, according to official data. Services is the largest segment of this sector.

Last month, the agriculture ministry launched a web portal for speedy bank resolution of interest subsidy claims under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF).

An enterprise is classified as an MSME based on a set of criteria.

A micro enterprise is one where the investment in plant and machinery or equipment does not exceed Rs.1 crore, and the turnover does not exceed Rs.5 crore. A small enterprise is where the investment in plant and machinery or equipment does not exceed Rs.10 crore, and the turnover does not exceed Rs.50 crore. and is a medium-sized enterprise where the investment in plant and machinery or equipment does not exceed Rs.50 crore, and the turnover does not exceed Rs.250 crore.

MSMEs are important job creators in India, contributing about 29 percent of the country’s gross value added and about 45 percent of its exports.
