“I’ve been doing this for 20 years, this is the first time I’m being taken seriously at the Grammys?” Cyrus reflected.

In a recent interview with W magazine, pop icon Miley Cyrus talked about her momentous experience at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where she picked up her first two Grammys for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Reflecting on her 20-year journey in the music industry, Cyrus questioned the award show’s standards of recognition, saying, “No shade, but I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and this is my first time when the reality I’m being taken seriously. Where was I? It’s not about arrogance.”

She took the stage in a stunning silver ensemble, channeling the legendary Tina Turner with glamorous choreography and a backing track of Turner’s “Proud Mary.”

“Why are you all acting like you don’t know this song?” the singer playfully teased the audience for their lack of energy.

Later, she edited the lyrics to “I just won my first Grammy”, celebrating her first victory in the Best Pop Solo Performance category.

Sharing the inspiration behind her confident stage presence, Cyrus revealed, “I wrote on this dream board that I wanted to show up at the Grammys with a childlike confidence, like when a child dives into the deep end. Not afraid to put on or do a backflip because they don’t know what’s on the other side. My 12-year-old self had to come out and play, while my 31-year-old self was in a big-haired bob.”
