KOLKATA: The state government has received investment proposals worth Rs 2,260 crore from potential investors in MSME Synergy in Hooghly and hopes to raise it to Rs 4,500 crore in the next few years to create employment for 50,000 people. . 500 businessmen from different parts of the district participated in the function held at Rabindra Bhavan in Chansura on Friday.

Among the upcoming major projects in the district are 6 industrial parks under the Scheme for Approved Industrial Park (SAIP). The SFA Multimodal Logistics Park is being constructed on 36.5 acres of land which will provide logistics support to the Railways. The project will involve an investment of Rs 200 crore and create employment for 1500 people. An industrial park is being constructed on 61 acres of land at Dhaniakhali. It will create employment for 4,000 people with an investment of Rs 250 crore. Both these parks will be completed soon while the remaining four are in various stages of construction.

The West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation has completed setting up of infrastructure for an Agro-Industrial Park on 7.69 acres of land at Sangur. Two plots have already been allotted.

A spinning mill in Srirampur has seen a transformation as the state government decided to manufacture and supply school clothes to children. The daily production of 1.5 tons has now reached 4 tons.

A joint facility center will be set up on 0.73 acres of land at Chandanpur Mauza of Jangi Par for manual laborers. Preparation of DPR for the project is underway and once completed, 1,300 workers will be directly and indirectly employed in the project.

State MSME Minister Chandranath Sinha presided over the program which was inaugurated by Minister in-charge Agriculture Marketing Department Bichram Munna.
