Agartala, 01 October 2024: Tripura’s Industries and Commerce Department Secretary Kiran Gutti on Tuesday announced that the state’s Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme will continue for the next three years. The initiative aims to support and nurture 3,200 model entrepreneurs in the state during this period.
The RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) project, supported by the World Bank, was formally launched to enhance the performance of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma inaugurated the project at the International Indoor Exhibition Hall in Hapan, Western District. During the event, the minister also introduced an integrated awareness workshop and Yashaswini Abhiyan, both aimed at promoting various central schemes for the development of MSMEs.
Minister Chakma emphasized the important role of MSMEs in the economic self-reliance of the state, noting that entrepreneurs should be well aware of the available schemes of the central and state governments. He highlighted the government’s commitment to support workers but emphasized the importance of individual effort and discipline. He pointed out the potential of rubber, food processing and bamboo-based industries in the state, saying that 98% of the industries in the state are registered as MSMEs, many of whom have access to loans through schemes like PMEGP and Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana. Benefiting from which has provided loans to 932 people in the state.
Kiran Gutti, Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce shared that MSMEs contribute 11% to the state’s GDP, with plans to increase this in the future. The RAMP project will run for three years, aiming to produce 3,200 model entrepreneurs in the state. Union MSME Ministry (GA&TP) director Vinamra Mishra said that the project aims to promote the growth of MSMEs across the country in the next 15 to 20 years. Vali is another state. Under this scheme, the state will get a total of Rs 65 crore.
Awareness workshops and Yashaswini Abhiyan will provide comprehensive support to MSMEs, focusing on product marketing, technological development, and financial infrastructure. Union Ministry of MSME Director Ankita Pandey explained that the Yashaswini Abhiyan aims to empower women entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. A documentary on the campaign was also screened during the event. Notably, the first Yashaswini campaign was launched on June 27 this year in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The event also featured a welcome speech by Swapna Debnath, Director in-charge of the Department of Industries and Commerce and the second phase of the program was attended by expert trainers from government and non-government organizations including Reserve Bank of India, CIBIL. And JEM gave participants insight on various topics related to MSME.
