Ishan Kishan boosted his hopes of T20 World Cup selection with a 34-ball 69 for Mumbai Indians (MI) in their IPL 2024 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Prior to this encounter, Kishan had scored just 92 runs in four matches and his double against RCB will surely boost his confidence for the rest of the season. However, a fan posed an interesting question to former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach Tom Moody regarding the auction that included Kishan’s name.

The fan asked Modi if he regretted not bidding more than Rs 15 crore for the cushion during the IPL 2022 mega auction.

For the uninitiated, the cushion was released by MI ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. However, the five-time champions bought it again at the auction table, this time for a whopping Rs 15.25 crore.

MI were involved in a bidding war with SRH for the cushion, but the 2016 champions dropped out of the race after the bid crossed Rs 15 crore.

This comes after Kishan pulled out of the South Africa Test last year, citing fatigue.

The 25-year-old was not considered for any subsequent national assignments, and India head coach Rahul Dravid urged Kishan to play domestic cricket for his comeback.
