Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 player regulations are out. 10 franchises are allowed to retain a maximum of six players. The IPL 2025 auction is expected to be held in the last week of November or the first week of December and being a mega auction, the team will have a tough time deciding which players to retain. The auction purse for the franchises is set at INR 120 crore for IPL 2025. The total salary cap will now consist of auction purse, incremental performance pay and match fee.

Before the retention, former Indian cricket team opener Akash Chopra said that Lucknow Supergiants captain KL Rahul will get a mega deal if he joins the auction.

“First is KL Rahul. He is the face of the franchise and you want him to be the captain. You are not going to get him for Rs 18 crore. To be honest, if he goes to the auction, he will get Rs 18 crore. Akash Chopra said in his YouTube channel that you never leave the captain until 18 crores.

Regarding LSG’s Mayank Yadav, who has been selected in the Indian squad for the Bangladesh T20I, Chopra had an interesting point to make. “They definitely wanted to retain him but if he gets the Indian cap, there is no point in retaining him. Then you can use the right-to-match card,” he said.

Meanwhile, match fee has been introduced for the first time in the history of IPL. Each playing member (including impact players) will get a match fee of Rs 7.5 lakh per match. This will be in addition to his contract amount. Any overseas player must register for the major auction. Non-registration of foreign players will disqualify them from registration in next year’s player auction.

Any player who registers in the player auction and does not make himself available before the start of the season after being selected in the auction will be banned from participating in the tournament and player auction for 2 seasons. .
