While Pakistan cricket is going through its toughest phase, Babar Azam is one player who is under fire for the men’s national team. The 0-2 Test series defeat at home to Bangladesh is being hailed by many as the worst defeat for a national team in the longest format. One of the reasons for Pakistan’s poor performance on the 22-yard pitch is the poor performance of top players like Babar Azam. While many former Pakistani cricketers have criticized Babar in the last few weeks, Basit Ali advised the star batsman to get married.
“Babar Azam, talk to your parents and get married. He will be a completely different person after that. I know how it feels when a player is not performing well. I request Babar’s parents. I want him to marry her like an elder brother, I want him to tell her. Get married, brother, now your age has increasedAnd married brother, you are old enough now”, said Basit Ali in a video on his YouTube channel.
After the conclusion of last year’s ODI World Cup, Pakistan toured Australia for a three-match Test series. Pakistan faced a whitewash after losing in all aspects of the game. After the series ended, Pakistan’s batsmen were left exposed after their performance. Babar was among the players who came under scrutiny from fans as well as former cricketers. During three Test matches, Babar scored 126 runs at an average of 21.
Before the T20 World Cup, Pakistan toured England and played four T20 matches. In two matches, Babar scored 68 runs at an average of 34.00. In the T20 World Cup, Babar was once again exposed after falling short with his bat. In four matches, he scored 122 runs at an average of 40.66.
But his low strike rate of 101.66 was heavily criticized. In the recently concluded 2-match Test series against Bangladesh, in four innings, Babar scored just 64 runs with the bat.
“This is a wake-up call for Pakistan cricket, they can’t go below this, it’s time to wake up and open your eyes. If you don’t open your eyes after losing to Bangladesh, play the Test series. Only Nepal and Afghanistan. Against Pakistan, they have learned a lesson and it will benefit them.
