The main focal point of the BCCI’s 93rd Annual General Meeting to be held here on Sunday will be the selection of India’s two representatives in ICC meetings, as the search for a successor to current secretary Jay Shah is not on the agenda. The meeting holds significance as the International Cricket Council has scheduled a conclave in Dubai at the end of the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE.

The final of the marquee event is scheduled for October 20 in Dubai, and Shah will still preside over the BCCI secretary on that date, as he will take over as ICC chairman from December 1.

After Sourav Ganguly’s tenure as BCCI president, Shah has usually represented India in ICC negotiations and the last such instance was in Colombo earlier this July.

Current board president Roger Binny is an alternate director who can represent the BCCI at meetings of the global body, but he rarely does so.

With one year left in his term, it remains to be seen whether Binny will continue as an alternate director or if someone else is nominated for the role at the AGM.

Although the secretary’s choice is not on the cards, the members, who have also gathered here on Saturday to inaugurate the new National Cricket Academy complex near the international airport, are sure to discuss among themselves a possible successor to Shah. .

As things stand now, two names are doing the rounds for the post – Anil Patel, secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association and Rohan Jaitley, son of the late Arun Jaitley and president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association.

But it is learned that Patel is the current front-runner for the post which will be formally confirmed at the Special General Meeting (SGM), and the date of which is also expected to be revealed after the AGM.

Apart from this, the AGM will also approve the inclusion of one representative from the Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA) and two from the general body, appointment of sub-committees such as the Cricket Committee, and approval of the annual budget for 2024-25. the weather

The AGM will also consider the report submitted by the Internal Committee of the Board constituted under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Policy.
