Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma is quite famous for his funny one-liners and some of his comments caught on the stump mic have gone viral on social media over the past few years. Rohit’s interactions with reporters during press conferences were already quite popular and his on-pitch comments have also gained a lot of popularity in the recent past. South African cricket legend Jonty Rhodes, who worked with Rohit as the fielding coach of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), said the Indian captain also had a ‘mischievous’ side.

“The way he interacts with his teammates, he’s quite a character. He’s quite a naughty boy, almost. He says some things on the stomp mic and you go ‘Oh! Do you know what people listen to?’ Have you been, Ro?’ I don’t understand all of it but it’s always broadcast and translated for us,” Rhodes told RevSportz.

Several youngsters in the Indian cricket team have praised the way Rohit interacts with his teammates and Rhodes said he has really grown as a captain over the past few years.

“From a captaincy point of view, he has been outstanding. I was with him at MI for a couple of seasons. He grew as a captain there and that’s the best thing about him,” Rhodes said. Rhodes said.

Cricketers have to reinvent themselves. You are easily recognized internationally. I was dropped from Test cricket for two years because I had a technical problem.

“If you look at Rohit, so much cricket has been played that if you don’t develop, you will be stuck. People will figure you out,” he added.

India will next face Bangladesh in a two-match Test series starting on September 19.
