Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant played another impressive innings to help his team beat Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) by 6 wickets in the IPL 2024 match. Pant added 77 runs for the third wicket with debutant Jack Fraser McGurk, who scored 55 off 35 balls to lead DC’s charge in pursuit of 168 runs. Pant, who was ruled out of the last season of the IPL due to an injury sustained in a fatal car accident, showed glimpses of his brilliant best with four fours and two sixes.

However, his reverse scoop off Marcus Stoins was the highlight of his innings of 41 runs (24). Even DC Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly couldn’t contain his excitement at Pant’s bold effort that hit a boundary.

Gangloi left his seat in the dugout and was seen standing near the boundary rope after Pant attempted a successful reverse scoop.

While the partnership of Pant and Fraser-McGurk worked with the bat in DC’s second win of IPL 2024, it was spinner Kuldeep Yadav who laid the foundation with match-winning figures of 3/20.

Kuldeep was adjudged player of the match.

Speaking after DC’s win, Pant said: Relieved. Told the boys that we should think like champions, keep fighting hard. There have been phases when we haven’t been on target with the ball but some people have had to take responsibility. With 10 teams it’s hard to stay with one team, we can either make excuses or we’ve got our number 3. Don’t think too much yet, take it one match at a time.”

Kuldeep, who did not play a few games earlier in the season, said that his punishment was carried out perfectly.

“Wasn’t fit for a few matches, got injured in the first match. It was hard to see the team struggling in the middle overs. Credit to Patrick for keeping me going. They were all good wickets, when you have three in the middle. Got the wickets. Along with controlling the overs and the run rate, I thought the first wicket was very good, I was very important with my planning. The spinner is a good length regardless of the format,” Kuldeep said after the match said at the presentation ceremony.
