The DRS (Decision Review System) confusion during the first Sri Lanka vs India ODI in Colombo angered captain Rohit Sharma. This incident happened on the fourth ball of the 14th over of Sri Lanka’s innings. Shivam Dubey bowled a ball down the leg-side to Patham Nissanka, who was out of sight, and the ball hit wicketkeeper KL Rahul on his thigh pad. The Indian players appealed for the wicket but the umpire did not believe. To everyone’s surprise, the umpire gave him a wide.

Captain Rohit spoke to Rahul before deciding not to take the review. When Rohit was returning to the field, a player told him that he heard a voice.

You want to talk about whether it is far away or paid door. If it is the door then who is speaking 100% voice came. (You should know if the bat is off the pad or not. Then he is saying that there is definitely noise), Rohit said back.

Rahul then said, “IPL mein vahad bachja hai na, seh bol raha hai woo” (reviews can be taken for wides in IPL, that’s why he is saying).

Notably, in the IPL, a team can also appeal against a wide decision given by the umpire.

The first ODI of the three-match series between India and Sri Lanka was a thrilling encounter on Friday.

Half-centuries from Donath Villalage and Patham Nissanka helped Sri Lanka reach 230 for 8 after electing to bat. The total was better than it looked on the board because of the conditions which heavily favor the slower bowlers. Villaj scored an unbeaten 67 off 65 balls which included seven fours and two sixes. Nissanka scored 56 runs off 75 balls.

Left-arm orthodox spinner Axar Patel (2/33 in 10 overs) and wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav (1/33 in 10 overs) were economical while seamers Shivam Dubey, Arsdeep Singh and Mohammad Siraj also picked up a wicket each. Scored 118 runs in the last 20 overs.

In the chase, skipper Rohit Sharma scored 58 off 47 balls, while Akshar Patel (33) and KL Rahul (31) also contributed but could not finish the game.

Charith Asalinka (30/3) and Vinindu Hasringa (3/58) were the best bowlers for the hosts.
