If metal music is your cup of tea, allow your soul to be fed at a concert featuring British progressive metal band, Tesseract, who will be touring India later this month. The band, which includes Eckel Cahney, Jay Postones, James Monteith, Amos Williams and Daniel Tompkins, has released five albums, the latest of which is titled A battle for existence.
“We wanted to have Tesseract perform in India because they are quite popular and have reached out. They haven’t done a gig in India for a long time, and we thought it would be great for metalheads to see them perform new songs. It will be interesting. A battle for existence” says Amarjit Singha, President, International Artist Bookings and IPs at SkillBox, an art community platform.
Formed in the early 2000s, the band released a bang in 2022 with Regrowth, a special double-A side, to raise money for the Disasters Emergency Committee and help the people of Ukraine. could On kscopemusic.bandcamp.com, Bandcamp being an online record store and music community, the band made two songs available for purchase — Hollow and Rebirth — to be included on their fifth album with a message: “These songs were in the TesseracT domain for a while. We had them ready for album five, but they weren’t suitable for that album. Instead of them slowly rotting away on a server, we felt that Can they do something good, no matter how small?

nine track album, A battle for existencewas released in September last year and has garnered rave reviews. Metal Storm War of Being was described as a strong return for Tesseract after a five-year hiatus, while blabbermouth.net described the album’s title track as the bravest and boldest record to date.
The band, which first toured India in 2010 for the festival series Great Indian Rock, has performed at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, Bengaluru Festival Backdoors in 2018, and last in 2019 at the country’s What was the visit, States Rolling Stone Magazine. “India has a significant population that is interested in metal music. As far as tickets are concerned, we have sold about 85% in Bengaluru and 70% in Delhi and Mumbai. With 20 days to go, we are in every city. Expecting a sell-out,” says Anmol Kukreja, founder and CEO of SkillBox.

Ryden Bangera, Chief Business Officer of the platform, added that they chose Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai for a few reasons. “All three cities have thriving metal scenes with lots of passionate fans. They also show a steady interest in live music events, including metal gigs. This ensures a great audience for Tesseract and a platform for shows. Creates an exciting atmosphere,” he justifies.
The band will be at Imperfecto Patio in Delhi on April 26 (8pm), Phoenix Marketcity in Mumbai on April 27 (7pm) and GYLT in Bengaluru on April 28 (8pm).
Tickets for the show are priced upwards of ₹2,499. Cover charges will apply at skillboxes.com.
