Actress Emma Stone may headline her husband Dave McCarey’s upcoming directorial venture. Young Rock supervising producers Patrick Kang and Michael Levine wrote the original Speak screenplay for the film. However, details about the project are currently being kept under wraps, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Sean Levy, Dan Cohen and Dan Levin are set to produce with Michael H. Webber through 21 Laps. The married couple and Ali Herting are also in talks to produce through Fruit Tree. Stone is a two-time Academy Award-winning actress and producer known for “Poor Things,” “La La Land,” “The Favorite,” “Easy A,” “Birdman,” “Cruella” and most recently “Cursed.” She also serves as an executive producer.
Meanwhile, Stone is currently basking in the success of her film ‘Poor Things’ which won her an Oscar for Best Actress. Emma beat out Annette Bening (Naiad), Lily Gladstone (Colors of the Flower Moon), Sandra Hiller (Anatomy of a Fall), Carey Mulligan (Maestro). ‘Poor Things’ also won the Golden Trophy for the Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling categories at the 96th Academy Awards.
McCary, on the other hand, has recently produced “A Real Pain,” “Problemista” and executive produced “The Curse” with Stone. He previously directed “Brigsby Bear” and was a writer/director for five seasons on “SNL” (where he and Stone first met in 2016).
Stone and Dave McCarey met on ‘Saturday Night Live’ in December 2016 and married in 2020. In March 2021, the couple welcomed their first child, daughter Louise Jean McRae.
