Washington:

US President Joe Biden said Thursday that the New Orleans attacker had a remote detonator in his car to set off the improvised explosive devices (IEDs) he detonated when he crashed his car on Bourbon Street. Previously installed in ice coolers in the French Quarter.

CNN reported that the FBI recovered two IEDs that were kept in a cooler by the attacker, Shamsuddin Jabbar.

“They have established that the attacker is the same person who planted explosives in these ice coolers at two nearby locations in the French Quarter. A few hours ago he drove into the crowd with his car. They guessed he had a remote detonator To send out the chests,” Biden said.

CNN reported that Biden also told reporters gathered in the East Room of the White House that he would try to travel to New Orleans.

On the other hand, the American president said that 15 people, including the attacker, have been killed in the New Year’s Eve attack in New Orleans.

The FBI has determined that the attacker, who committed this “act of terrorism,” was a supporter of ISIS. An ISIS flag was found in his car and the suspect confessed his support in a series of videos he posted online.

Biden assured that the United States will continue to pursue ISIS and other terrorist organizations. “We will relentlessly pursue ISIS and other terrorist organizations where they are and they will find no safe place here,” Biden said.

Additionally, speaking about a possible connection between the New Orleans attack and the Las Vegas cyber truck blast, Biden said that the investigation is still ongoing, but that no evidence of such a connection has yet been found.

One person was killed and seven were injured when a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. CNN reported that the vehicles used in both incidents were rented from car rental site ‘Toro’, prompting authorities to look for links between the two incidents.
