Washington DC:
With the grace of Donald Trump, a new era of artificial intelligence has begun in America. Three tech giants, seeking global dominance in AI, have united for this goal – to set up the world’s largest AI project. It will be called ‘Stargate’. This announcement was made by Donald Trump in a special press conference at the White House. However, Elon Musk has expressed doubts about the mega project.
The team that will lead the ambitious project includes Sam Altman, founder of OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison, and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son. Nvidia is also reportedly discussing a possible partnership in the project, however, there is no confirmation from them yet.
Stargate launch at the White House
The CEOs of the three firms officially launched the Stargate project at the White House with President Donald Trump. In announcing it, President Trump said it would be the “largest AI infrastructure project in history,” investing “at least $500 billion,” with the first tranche of $100 billion. The President added that this project will create more than 100,000 jobs in the United States.
Stargate, he said, “will build the physical and virtual infrastructure to power the next generation of AI.” Adding to that, Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison said that Stargate’s first 1 million square foot data center is already under construction in Texas.
Elon Musk’s ‘FOMO’ moment?
Interestingly, Donald Trump’s biggest supporter and confidant, Elon Musk, has been kept out of the plan. Shortly after the White House press conference ended, Elon Musk made a snarky comment on his social media platform X. From his post, it seems that he might be a bit annoyed with this mega project.
Announcing the Stargate Project
The Stargate Project is a new company that plans to invest $500 billion over the next four years in building a new AI infrastructure for OpenAI in the US. We will begin deploying $100 billion immediately. This infrastructure will be protected…

Responding directly to OpenAI’s post on X about Stargate, Elon Musk wrote, “They don’t actually have the money ($500 billion).” In another post, he said, “Softbank has less than $10B secured. I have it on good authority.”

He also engaged with X users who mocked the project. “OpenAI and Microsoft are done,” wrote one user, a fallout between the two tech partners, to which Elon Musk responded by saying “it seems so”.

Elon Musk vs Sam Altman – From Open-AI Co-Founder to AI Nemesis
It is also interesting to note that Elon Musk was one of the co-founders of OpenAI when it started in 2015. Being a non-profit, when it needed funding, Elon Musk also provided funds for the project. But Musk left OpenAI in 2018.
In recent days, relations between Elon Musk and Sam Altman/OpenAI have soured considerably, with the world’s richest man suing the company that created ChatGPT. Musk has filed multiple lawsuits against OpenAI and Sam Altman, claiming that the creator of ChatGPT violates licensing agreements and antitrust laws.
In one of his lawsuits, Elon Musk even claims that OpenAI and Sam Altman manipulated him from the start – when they ‘lured’ him into co-founding the company.
In his latest lawsuit against tech partner-turned-arch-rival Sam Altman, Musk claims the OpenAI case is a “textbook story of greed versus altruism.” Musk further claimed that Sam Altman and his partners defrauded Musk by turning the company from unprofitable to massively profitable. Musk’s lawsuit states that “the delusion and deception are of Shakespearean proportions.”
OpenAI has denied these allegations, however, it is a fact that OpenAI has recently announced that it will be transitioning from being a ‘non-profit’ to a ‘for-profit’ organization – a A move that faced a lot of criticism.
Sam Altman thanks President Trump
Sam Altman has now announced that Stargate will cement America’s position as a world leader in AI technology. “I think this will be the most important project of this era, and we couldn’t do it without you, Mr. President,” Mr. Altman said, thanking President Donald Trump at a White House press conference.
Cloud giant Oracle, one of Stargate’s partners, has about $11 billion in cash and securities, according to the Wall Street Journal. SoftBank, the third partner in the venture, is worth about $30 billion. OpenAI, which has so far run on borrowed funds, is a loss-making organization – but at the press conference the three firms will invest an initial $100 billion in the Stargate project, and at least $500 billion over the next four years. Promised to do.
