Cairo:
Hamas said on Thursday that there was no need for new ceasefire proposals for Gaza and that Israel should be pressured to agree to the US plan that the Islamist group has already accepted.
The US was expected to propose a new ceasefire aimed at ending the standoff between Hamas and Israel.
In a statement, Hamas said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tried to derail a deal by insisting that Israel would not withdraw from the Philadelphia Corridor in southern Gaza.
“We warn against falling into Netanyahu’s traps and tricks, as he uses negotiations to prolong aggression against our people,” the statement said.
Hamas said it accepted the proposal presented by the US on July 2.
