Two helicopter propellers come off and one lands in hotel pool: Report (Representative)

Sydney:

Hundreds of hotel guests were evacuated after a helicopter crashed from the roof of a hotel in a popular Australian tourist town, officials said Monday.

Emergency crews were called to the Hilton’s DoubleTree Hotel in the northern city of Cairns, considered the gateway to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, at about 2 a.m. Monday (1600 GMT Sunday), media reported.

“The building was evacuated as a precaution and no one on the ground was injured. Police are at the scene investigating the incident,” Queensland State Police said in a statement.

Police did not say what the condition of the pilot was or if any passengers were on board, but a video posted on social media showed a fire on the roof of the hotel.

According to Australian media reports, two of the helicopter’s propellers came off and one landed in the hotel pool.
