“President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a very important meeting. Now that the two leaders have reached several important understandings, these will serve as guidelines for further development of relations between our two countries. “I hope that under the guidance of this consensus, our relations will move forward in a smooth manner and will not be restricted or hindered by specific differences between our two sides,” the ambassador said.

Stating that some differences between neighboring countries are natural, the ambassador added, “The most important thing is how to handle and resolve them. The meeting between the two leaders set a very good example for us. How to handle these differences.”

Responding to a question on when direct flights between India and China – which were suspended in 2020 – would resume, the ambassador drew laughter as he said, “I am also looking forward to direct flights so that I can have direct flights.” I can go straight back to Beijing.”

Mr Feihong added that direct flights would be convenient for everyone and would save time and money.

Responding to a question on trade relations, the ambassador also said that he wanted smooth cooperation between India and China in business, education, science and “every field”.

Mr Feihong’s comments came on a day when Indian Army sources said the withdrawal was complete in both areas and patrolling would begin soon.
