A 13-year-old girl in the US has been accused of stabbing her 7-year-old sister to death after an argument over flushing the toilet. According to The Independent, the incident happened in Michigan on Saturday when the teenager was babysitting his younger sister. Officers arrived at the scene around 1 a.m. and found the victim in the bathroom, suffering from more than 10 stab wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the prosecutor’s office said.
According to freeA note about flushing the toilet was left in the bathroom and the two got into a verbal argument, police said. During the fight, the 13-year-old allegedly stabbed his younger sister in the stomach, head and neck with a butcher knife and hunting knife, after which she called 911.
The 13-year-old now faces multiple charges, including first-degree premeditated murder, aggravated murder and first-degree child abuse, the prosecutor’s office said. “She was very calm and just didn’t show any emotion,” Detective Zachary DiGiacomo said.
Both the victim and the suspect have not been identified due to their ages.
The parents told police that they had just left their older daughter to babysit her younger sister for two hours when the attack happened. He insisted that before that the siblings only had “normal sibling arguments”.
Separately, a neighbor of the family spoke of her shock at what happened. “I was just talking to her last night and now she’s gone… she used to ride her bike down the street every day, go up and down the street and talk to the neighbors, she’s just the sweetest little girl. It was a girl,” he said.

The outlet reported that the teenager will not be prosecuted as an adult, however, he will be placed in the juvenile system. “Given his young age, the state will have seven years to assess, treat and rehabilitate him before his mandatory release at age 21,” said prosecutor Kim Worthy.
“Hopefully she will not be a danger to others again. While this is a difficult decision to make given the facts, it is the right thing to do in this case,” the prosecutor continued.
“There is no doubt that the facts in this case are gruesome. It is disturbing that the man allegedly responsible for the stabbing death of his seven-year-old sister is a thirteen-year-old,” he added.
