Chandigarh, Nov 14 (PTI) BJP MLAs on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the opposition Congress in the Haryana Assembly, recalling how corruption and favoritism flourished in jobs when they were in power. Merit and transparency are the only criteria governing governance. .

Participating in the debate on the governor’s address in the assembly on the second day of the ongoing winter session, Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar said that the state has seen all-round progress in the last ten years under the BJP-led government.

He said that the jobs were given on merit and many schemes were brought for the welfare of different sections of the society.

BJP’s Rewari MLA Laxman Singh Yadav reminded the Congress that there was a time when the opposition party was in power and “people had to sell their land to get jobs and then the middlemen would exploit them. were”.

“But our government brought transparency and we gave 1.70 lakh jobs during the last ten years… When Congress was in power, there was regional bias in development while favoritism, corruption prevailed in giving jobs, but our government did without any ‘Pay and slip’ and merit has been the sole criteria for hiring, has brought equality and transparency,” Yadav said.

During the debate during the governor’s address, there was also a verbal exchange between members of the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress on certain issues.

“BJP has also used money power in the elections. People have raised questions on EVMs,” Congress MLA from Rohtak BB Batra said while participating in the debate on the Governor’s address.
