Srinagar, November 22: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said that a cabinet sub-committee formed to discuss the issue of reservation in government jobs with all stakeholders will adopt a comprehensive approach so that all Justice should be done and their rights should be protected. No one gets ripped off.
Talking to reporters after a function here, Abdullah said that the sub-committee will include three ministers and once it submits its report, a decision will be taken on the matter.
“A lot is being said about reservation. Our youth, especially those from the open community, feel that they are not getting their rights, but there are people who have been brought under reservation. Who do not want any reduction in their rights.
“Therefore, the cabinet has decided to form a sub-committee, which will include three ministers, and the cabinet has asked them to take a holistic view of the matter,” he added.
To a question about the special status resolution passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly recently, the Chief Minister said that the most important thing is that the resolution has not been rejected anywhere.
“The resolution was passed and no one rejected it. It has opened a door. We will see what happens in the future,” he said.
On the remarks of Congress national president Mallikarjan Kharge on the resolution, Abdullah said that the Congress party is not part of the government.
“Congress is supporting us from outside, it has not joined our government. The government brought the resolution and it was passed by all the (Assembly) members except the BJP, which included the Congress.
“Now, it is obvious that the BJP has targeted the Congress in the Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections. This is the first response to those who said there was nothing in the resolution. If there was nothing in the resolution, the Prime Minister And why did HM raise the resolution again and again? It’s obvious there’s something to it,” he said.
The JK Chief Minister said that it is the Congress’s compulsion to try to weaken the resolution, but nothing can be weakened by what he said as the JK Assembly has passed it with an overwhelming majority.
Asked about the release of prisoners as promised in the ruling National Conference’s election manifesto, Abdullah said statehood was needed for the release of prisoners because, so far, security, policing and peace and Aman is subordinate to the central government and is looked after. followed by LG”.
However, the Chief Minister said that whenever he has spoken to the police administration, he has asked them to reconsider the issue of prisoners, especially the issue of verification “for which people are being harassed.” “.

“But as far as the release of prisoners is concerned, we have been working on the rehabilitation of the state since day one because we know that there are some things that people want some progress on, which cannot happen in UT.” he said.
On power cuts in Kashmir Valley, Abdullah said he met the Union Power Minister in Delhi and an additional quota was approved for JK.
“But, we have to be prepared for some reduction in winter. I have asked the department to reduce power cuts and shedding where power theft is low and power charges are being paid. I hope this season The situation will improve in winter.
