In a major move to strengthen permanent employment within Delhi’s government framework, Lt. Governor VK Saxena distributed appointment letters to 702 newly recruited government employees. The event was held at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhavan, which showcased the administration’s commitment to streamlining manpower operations across its departments and civic bodies.
According to a press release from the LG office, appointments in key sectors are diverse, including 232 in health, 200 in education, and 119 in planning. These new recruits are expected to augment departmental functions and fill existing vacancies, with a focus on inclusion, as the recruits include women, persons with disabilities, and certain categories of candidates.
LG Saxena highlighted the emphasis on permanent staff since assuming office in May 2022, highlighting its importance in achieving ‘Wokest Bharat’ by 2047, as envisioned by the Prime Minister. He pointed out that while contract roles often compromise job security and quality of service, permanent positions promote responsibility and accountability. LG urged for speedy efforts to resolve about 20,000 pending vacancies.
The event marked the sixth such recruitment drive in two years, with around 22,000 permanent rolls being filled by DSSSB and UPSC during the period. Saxena encouraged the new recruits to see their roles as opportunities to contribute to national development, which would further the administration’s objective of effective and transparent governance.
