The head of the Public Administration Reforms Commission, Abdul Moeed Chaudhary, has said that he has seen the justification for increasing the age of entry into the civil service.

“There is no doubt about the justification for raising the entry limit in government jobs,” he said after meeting 35-year-old job seekers at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday.

Moeed Choudhary said that the committee formed by the government has only one focus as there has been a movement on the issue for a long time.

“The committee will take a decision keeping in mind the current policies, future working plan and the overall situation,” he said.

Responding to a question about the justification for raising the age of entry into government services, he said many candidates faced problems due to COVID-19 and session jams.

Therefore, the age limit for entry into the existing government service should be increased, he observed.

The caretaker government on Monday constituted a five-member committee to review the existing age limit for entry into government jobs. The committee has been asked to submit recommendations within seven days.
