1. 12th International Tourism Mart (ITM)

Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is all set to organize the 12th edition of International Tourism Mart (ITM) at Kaziranga, Assam. The mega event will be held from 26 to 29 November 2024.

• Focusing on North Eastern states including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim.
• The three-day mart will feature a variety of activities including highlighting the main attractions of-
  – Charideo Moedam (India’s newest and 43rd UNESCO World Heritage Site),
  – Kaziranga National Park (Celebrating 50 years as a National Park)
  -Hathikoli Tea State, and
  Orchid and Biodiversity Park.

2. Stamps on the 125th Birth Anniversary of Hari Krishna Mahtab

Hon’ble President of India Smt. Draupadi Murmu released a commemorative stamp on the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Harikrishna Mehtab.

• He was the first Chief Minister of Odisha (1946–1950, 1956–1960) and is fondly known as Utkal Keshri.
• Born on 21 November 1899 in Agrapara village in Bhadrak district, his journey was marked by his commitment to Gandhian ideals.
• He is known for his tireless efforts for national unity.

3. Every Child Matters: Advocating for Adoption

The Ministry of Women and Child Development celebrated “Every Child Matters: Advocacy for Adoption” in Lucknow on November 21, 2024. The ministries observe November as Adoption Awareness Month, an initiative spearheaded by the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) and its stakeholders. Raise awareness about the legal adoption process.

• The Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India celebrated the occasion on 21 November 2024 in Lucknow.
• 2024 Theme- “Rehabilitation of Older Children through Foster Care and Foster Adoption.”
• The KEYRINGS (Child Options Resource Information and Guidance System) portal was launched in February 2011.

4. World Fisheries Day (WFD) was organized in New Delhi.

The Department of Fisheries (DoF) under the Ministry of Fisheries, Wildlife and Dairy celebrated the World Fisheries Day (WFD) in New Delhi.
Theme: “India’s Blue Transformation: Strengthening Small-Scale and Sustainable Fisheries”.

• Fisheries and other related sectors support the livelihood of about 61.8 million people worldwide.
• In 2022, global production in this sector is expected to reach 223.2 million tonnes.
• India is the second largest fish producing country contributing about 8% of the global fish production.

5. Bihar Khelo India will host Youth Games and Para Games.

For the first time, Bihar is set to host the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 in April next year. With this success there will now be a new addition to the Khelo India map of Bihar country.

• For the first time Khelo India Para Games will also be held in Bihar.
• It may be noted that the first edition of the Para Games was held in Delhi last year.
• Bihar has already hosted the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy Hockey Championship in Rajgir.
• The Khelo India Youth Games 2023 were held in Tamil Nadu in January this year.
