Recent investigations have revealed troubling news for the world of NFT and cryptocurrency. A link has emerged between the address of the deployer of the BALL token, the Lil Hippie NFT project, and its creator, Mr. Mo. It comes as investors accuse the project’s developers of a rig-pull scheme that siphoned $330,000 from the community fund.
More on that below.
Uncover the link
ZachXBTa well-known on-chain analyst pointed out that BALL’s deployer address is linked to the inactive Lil Hippie NFT project which has been inactive since June 2023.
The Lil Hippo project associated with Mr. Mo promised more value and utility through airdrops of the BALL token. However, since mid-2023, there has been no update from the NFT team, raising serious questions about the project’s credibility and goals.
Doubtful return
ZachXBT’s investigation found that $330,000 was withdrawn in one large transaction, a common sign of rip-offs where developers disappear after taking investors’ money.
An outraged community
The sudden nature of the transaction and the lack of effort to hide it has outraged the crypto community. Adding to the controversy is the BALL Project’s association with NBA legend Scottie Pippen. Pippin, who has faced criticism for pulling the rug out earlier, has made the BALL project appear even less credible.
Despite claims that Pippen’s project, Pip, is intended to be a long-term project with community support, the shadow of past failures looms large.
A response to the BALL project
In response to the backlash, the BALL project team admitted to an initial problem and claimed that they were fighting cheaters. He has said that more liquidity has been returned from the central wallet and continues to emphasize his commitment to the community. However, these statements have not completely allayed growing skepticism among investors.
