Division No. 1 police arrested a resident of Nadi Mohalla for allegedly strangling his 27-year-old friend after an argument on Tuesday night. An accused is yet to be identified. According to the police, the accused stayed with the relatives of the deceased to avoid suspicion.

The deceased has been identified as Abhishek alias Pannu of Nadi Mohalla. Police have arrested Amit alias Kalu while his accomplice is yet to be identified.

Division No. 1 SHO Inspector Gaganpreet Singh said that earlier the victim’s family members used to quarrel with some of their distant relatives in the evening. The police also scanned them but no one was found to be involved in the murder.

The SHO added that Abhishek and Amit Kalu had drunk together on Tuesday night. They fought over something. Amit attacks with a sharp weapon and kills Abhishek and escapes.

Meanwhile, the relatives of the deceased took him to the hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. The accused stayed with the family to avoid suspicion. As the family quarreled with some distant relatives, they accused them of murder.

The SHO added that the police scanned the CCTV installed in the area and found that Amit alias Kalu had strangled her to death. As soon as the police started investigation, the accused fled from the spot. However, later the police arrested him.
