Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was injured in an accidental gunshot wound at his home in Mumbai on Tuesday. He was taken to hospital and is out of danger.
The accident took place at 4.45 am when he was getting ready to leave for Kolkata.
He is shot in the knee.
Govinda was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital.
Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha said the actor is getting ready to leave for Kolkata. His revolver fell from his hand and accidentally fired.
“Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata. He kept his licensed revolver in a cupboard when it fell from his hand and a bullet hit him in the leg. The doctor removed the bullet. And his condition is fine, he is currently in the hospital,” the manager told ANI.
Govinda, 60, was taken to Kritiker Hospital for treatment.
“It is by God’s grace that Govindaji only got a leg injury and it was not serious,” added the manager.
Govinda’s acting career
Govinda One of the most popular Bollywood actors who made his acting debut in the late 1980s. He started his career with action and drama films but made his mark in comedy in the 1990s.
He acted in 165 Hindi language films.

Later, he appeared in several superhit comedy films, including Shula and Shabnam, Aanhan and Raja Babu.
In the late 1990s, he established himself as a mega-comedy star with hits like Koli No. 1, Sajan Chale Sasral, Hero No. 1, Dewana Mastana, Dulhe Raja, Bige Mian Chhote Mian, Anari No. 1, Haseena Maan Jaye and Jodi no. 1.
He won the national elections in 2004 and was a Congress MP for five years. He recently joined the Shiv Sena.
