Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who is being credited for his party’s unexpected victory in Uttar Pradesh, reacted to the BJP’s shock defeat in Faizabad (Ayodhya).
Election pundits had predicted an easy win for the BJP in this seat due to the inauguration of the Ram temple. Ayodhya in January. However, in a surprise upset, Yadav’s party prevailed over the BJP.
“The truth is BJP would have lost more seats in Uttar Pradesh. I thank the people of Ayodhya, you have seen the pain of Ayodhya time and time again. They were not given adequate compensation for their land. Gaya, injustice was done. Their land was not acquired according to the market value, you took away their land by force, you destroyed the poor for a sacred thing. “That’s why I think the people of Ayodhya and surrounding areas voted against the BJP,” he said.
Meanwhile, newly elected Samajwadi Party MP Odhish Prasad Singh said the BJP lost because it destroyed the honor of Lord Ram.
He said, “Bharatiya Janata Party has done politics in the name of Ayodhya. BJP has destroyed the prestige of ‘Marida Prashotham Ram’. There is inflation, there are no jobs under his (BJP) rule.” “They have disrespected our youths, farmers.” PTI
Audheesh Prasad Defeated BJP’s two-time MP Lilu Singh by a huge margin of 54,567 votes.
The Samajwadi Party emerged as the single largest party in Uttar Pradesh, which was considered a BJP stronghold before the general election results. The BJP, which had made a landslide victory in the state in 2014 and 2019, managed to win only 33 of the 80 seats.
Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav’s uncle Shivpal Yadav said the Ram Mandir election pitch did not work for the BJP.
“If elections are held in Uttar Pradesh today, Akhilesh Yadav will form the government… People have elected the greatest devotee of Lord Ram with a record number of votes,” he said.
