- This will also help users avoid receiving unwanted ads as this feature also eliminates tracking.
Google Chrome on iOS is rolling out a new feature to increase privacy when using YouTube incognito mode.
Seen by MS Power Usera new feature may soon be introduced in Chrome for iOS users. This feature will open YouTube incognito links directly in the browser’s Incognito mode as an important privacy measure.
Evidence was found through a new chrome flag Chromium garnetwhich indicates, “Enable opening links from YouTube incognito in Chrome incognito.” Enabling this will open YouTube Incognito links directly through Chrome Incognito.
Whenever this feature is official, it increases privacy for users, as Chrome does not store browsing history. This was not the case earlier when YouTube incognito links opened in regular Chrome and were not in incognito mode.
MSPowerUser further notes that users will see a bottom-sheet message indicating that they are in Chrome Incognito, and will see that “Chrome automatically opens incognito YouTube links.” The gesture is very similar to what we use on YouTube’s incognito screen, with a similar gesture at the bottom.
Along with the privacy aspect of the upcoming new feature, it also helps users with data tracking, which is usually done through web browsers including Chrome. Since it is incognito, there is less to worry about, as it also protects against unwanted ads. Users have to keep in mind that the feature on the Chrome browser is only applicable to YouTube incognito links and not to videos.
Overall, the feature coming to Chrome on iOS is one component of the search giant’s larger initiative to increase user control and online privacy. It is not yet clear whether the feature will eventually debut on the Google Chrome browser on Android phones. If it does, it will be a nifty addition.
