QuickShare is Apple’s equivalent of AirDrop for Android users. Although it’s been around on Android handsets for a while, the instant sharing functionality is adding new ways to share files with other users.
Android phone users can now share files via QuickShare with the help of a QR code, which will make receiving files hassle-free and more secure for recipients. This feature is widely (by 9to5Google) when it was announced last month and initially spotted in May of last year.
Until now, users who wanted to share photos or files had to turn on the Quick Share feature, either to their contacts or to everyone nearby, which would reveal the device’s availability on almost any Android device. does However, users sharing new QR codes can now tap on the “User QR Code” feature, which will appear in the “Send to nearby devices” pane.
Tapping it further will reveal a QR code with the number and types of files the user wants to send. The recipient can now scan the code from their Android phone and click on the instant share link (Instant share.google) to get the original files. There’s also a nifty prompt on the QR code indicating that the Android phone recipient should scan the corresponding code.
This eliminates the need to keep searching for contacts or pairing new devices nearby, as scanning a QR code is a bit easier. In addition, the QR code can be read by multiple Android devices, which means that multiple users in the vicinity can benefit from instant access to the original files, which is a must at gatherings or events.
