Apart from Udupi, Deputy Commissioner of Kannada district Malai Mohlan also ordered the closure of Anganwadis, schools and pre-university colleges in Dakshin Kannada.

Apart from this, the district administration has also issued a warning to the fishermen and instructed them not to go into the sea for fishing today. “The district administration has taken precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the public, advising citizens and tourists to avoid low-lying areas, river banks and sea shores. Fishermen have also been directed to avoid fishing. Avoid going to sea for giri activities,” the order said.

According to the Bengaluru Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected in South Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada districts on July 6. It added, “Scattered heavy rain with isolated very heavy rain/thundershowers and wind speed (30-40 kmph) is very likely over Chikmagalur, Shimoga districts.” “

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin, “Isolated very heavy rain is very likely over Coastal Karnataka on July 5 and 6; South Interior Karnataka on July 6. Coastal and South Interior Karnataka on July 7-9 and North Isolated heavy rain is likely over interior Karnataka on July 9.”
