MUMBAI: Police on Thursday registered a case against unknown persons for hacking the video conferencing platform of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), a quasi-judicial body that adjudicates issues related to Indian companies, to broadcast obscene videos. .

According to the police, NCLT functions were halted due to interruptions in video conferencing services as unknown persons hacked the system and played obscene videos on the platform. The videos began playing on courtroom monitors on two days – December 12 and 17 – at noon, as members dealt with disputes.

The deputy registrar of the NCLT lodged a complaint with the Cuffe Parade police, and a case was registered under sections 221 (obstructing a public servant in the performance of his duties), 294 (sale and distribution of obscene material) and 296 (obscenity). done works and singing in public places) Bharatiya Naya Sanhita, 2023, and under sections 66 (computer-related offences, such as hacking) and 67 (publication or transmission of sexually explicit material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act.
