Disney offers online and in-person menus for all of its attractions. Quick service and table service restaurantsso it makes it easier to see your options ahead of time. And if you’re allergic, you can often find alternative menu items listed online or ask at the restaurant. But what if the menus at Disney World were wrong?
gave Orlando Sentinel A Disney World employee fired in June has now been arrested for allegedly hacking menu creation software used in the company’s restaurants and altering menus, the report said. When changing the menu, Michael Shaver updated some of them by falsely claiming that items were peanut-free when in fact they were not.
Scheuer was Disney’s menu production manager before being fired in June for corruption. According to a criminal complaint filed, the shooting was controversial. Scheuer was arrested on October 23 after an FBI investigation agreed that he had breached Disney’s software multiple times over the past few months.
The complaint accuses Scheuer of fraudulent activity involving computers, and his bond hearing is now set for Tuesday. Disney is not named in the complaint, but Scheuer’s attorney, David Haas, said Scheuer was employed there. Haas claims Scheuer has a disability that affected his termination.
In addition to changing allergen information, the complaint says Scheuer changed prices, added profanity and changed fonts in the menu software. It also changed the QR codes on the menu to redirect to a website listing the names of Israeli companies for boycott purposes. These actions are expected to cause a loss of at least $150,000.
Scheuer also hacked 14 Disney employees, including former co-workers, from their company accounts and collected the personal data of four of them.
