Firstly Fully migrated from Google Maps to its in-house Ola Maps, achieving a significant cost savings milestone by reducing its INR 100 crore annual expenses to zero. Users are encouraged to update their Ola app to access the new mapping features.

“After exiting Azure last month, we are now completely out of Google Maps. We used to spend ₹100 crore a year but this month we completely migrated Ola Maps to our home. K has turned it to 0! Check your Ola app and update if needed,” Ola Chief Bhavesh Agarwal posted on X.

The upcoming features for Ola Maps include Street View, Neural Radiance Fields (NERFs), Indoor Images, 3D Maps, and Drone Maps.

The Ola Maps API is now available on Krutrim Cloud, which offers a suite of location services designed to help businesses focus on local location services. These core services include the Places API, Tiles API, Routing APIs, and Navigation SDKs for both iOS and Android.

The Places API facilitates searching for specific locations such as restaurants, hotels, or charging stations by providing detailed information about those locations. The Tiles API improves map loading efficiency by showing only the necessary map sections.

The Routing/Direction API generates optimized routes, detailed directions, and travel time estimates. Navigation SDKs allow developers to integrate navigation features such as turn-by-turn directions and real-time traffic updates into their apps.

Krutrim Cloud aims to create a reliable and scalable Maps platform to meet local needs and support broader technological and economic initiatives in India. Additionally, Ola is developing MapGPT for natural interactions powered by location-aware AI assistants, along with community-based features for real-time traffic and road condition updates.

Recently introduced by Ola Krutrim AI Cloud. They have migrated their entire database from AWS and Microsoft Azure to Krutrim AI Cloud. According to an estimate, Ola will save Rs 15 crore by doing so.
