OPPO has confirmed that OPPO Reno13 series smartphones Reno13 and Reno13 Pro will be launched in India on January 9, followed by teasing them last month.

The phones will integrate a comprehensive suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features designed to enhance both imaging and productivity. The launch is in line with OPPO’s commitment to expand the reach of AI technology for smartphone users in India. The Reno13 series introduces the latest AI capabilities, positioning it as a leader in its price segment.

AI-enhanced photography.

The Reno13 series includes several AI-powered imaging enhancements:

• AI Live Photo: Uses Generative AI to capture 1.5 seconds of 2K resolution video before and after the shutter is pressed. Users can choose a frame for optimized stills for the Reno 13 series’ ProXDR display, which supports 1.07 billion colors. Granular adjustments, including retouching and custom watermarks, are also available.
• AI Clarity Suite: A collection of AI features designed to improve image clarity.
  • AI Clarity Enhancer: Improves detail in images captured with up to 10X digital zoom, allowing detailed cropping without loss of sharpness.
  • AI Unblur: Restores sharpness, color, and dynamic range in blurry images.
  • AI Reflection Remover: Eliminates reflections in photos taken through glass.
  • AI Cleaner 2.0: Removes unwanted objects or people from photos.

AI portrait enhancement

The Reno13 series also features AI technologies that enhance portrait and group photos:

• AI Portrait: Recognizes up to 10 faces in a frame and enhances facial details using AI-generated content (AIGC).
• AI Night Portrait: Improves sharpness, reduces noise, and improves facial contours in low-light situations.

Both the Reno13 variants feature a 50MP JN5 front camera. The series supports 4K ultra-clear video recording on both front and rear cameras, enhanced by a tri-microphone system and audio zoom.

Performance powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8350

The Reno13 series will be the first to use the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset, built on TSMC’s second-generation 4nm process. The chip features MediaTek’s NPU, which provides:

• 2x improvement in calculation tasks
• Support for 10 billion parameter LL.M
• 3.3x increase in AI performance

This results in a 20% increase in efficiency and 30% lower power consumption than the previous generation. Dimensity 8350 supports Reno13 series AI features and ColorOS 15. It also includes the Mali-G615 6-core GPU, which offers a 60% increase in peak performance and up to 55% higher performance.

• AI Link Boost: Optimizes network usage for messages, photos and videos.
• Beacon Link: Enables Bluetooth voice calls in non-network environments.

Generative AI for Productivity

The Reno13 series includes GenAI assistants, powered by Google Gemini LLM:

The series features OPPO’s All-Round Armor Architecture, which combines external protection with internal sponge bionic cushioning. Key features include:

• IP68: Water resistance up to 1.5 meters (tested up to 2 meters for 30 minutes)
