When asked about the possibility of an India Bloc government, he said it was a matter of numbers. One thing is clear that people have rejected negative politics. Voting was against negative politics and for positive politics, social justice, safeguarding democracy, protection of reservations and improving the constitution and BJP has always undermined these values.

“I want to assure the people of Kanauj that we will continue the momentum of development that the Samajwadis started here,” he added.

Akhilesh won the Kanauj Lok Sabha constituency by a margin of 1,70,922 votes defeating BJP’s Subrat Pathak.

As Akhilesh arrived to collect his victory certificate from District Magistrate Shubrant Shukla, his supporters greeted him at various points between the party office and the Collectorate, beating drums and garlanding him.
