New Delhi :

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Vienna on Tuesday from Moscow on a two-day visit to Austria, during which the two countries will explore ways of deepening their bilateral ties and closer cooperation on several geopolitical challenges.

This is the first visit by an Indian prime minister to Austria in 40 years, the last visit being by Indira Gandhi in 1983.

In Russia, PM Modi interacted with the Indian community, then laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Kremlin and later visited the Rosatom Pavilion at an exhibition venue in Moscow.

Vladimir Putin and PM Modi met yesterday at the official address of the Russian President where they discussed important global issues.

The meeting marks the 16th meeting between PM Modi and President Putin in the past decade, with their last face-to-face interaction taking place at the 2022 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

This is PM Modi’s first visit to Russia since the conflict between Moscow and Kiev started in 2022.
