Samsung has announced that more language support will be coming soon for its Galaxy AI software and features.
According to a press release, Samsung is preparing to expand the number of languages (and dialects) supported by Galaxy AI this spring. Galaxy AI already supports 13 languages, but Samsung says Arabic, Indonesian and Russian will soon be options for users who are more comfortable with those languages.
Additionally, the Korean OEM plans to add Australian English, Cantonese, and Canadian French to the dialect side of Galaxy AI.
Although no exact date has been given, Samsung is interested in expanding its service further by supporting Romanian, Turkish, Dutch, Swedish, Traditional Chinese, and European Portuguese. The company says users should see these languages enter the fold “later this year.”
In a follow-up newsroom post, Samsung’s president and head of mobile, TM Roh, said the company is “committed to democratizing mobile AI for everyone; expanding the language of Galaxy AI this year to more Galaxy users.” will have the opportunity to communicate across language barriers. A scale that is completely unique to Samsung.”
However, interestingly, Samsung’s apparent teaser is about additional devices getting Galaxy AI features. After reiterating that the devices currently have some, the company added that “more are coming soon.”
As Samsung highlights, its increased language support will help users with Live Translate, Chat Assist, Note Assist, and more. Many of these features arrived in late March with the One UI 6.1 update for many past devices. The Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Fold 5, and Tab S9 series were among the devices eligible for the update.
These phones and tablets also received Google’s “Circle to Search,” which allows users to run web searches for anything, anywhere, on their phone.
Samsung’s light teaser of Galaxy AI on even more devices makes sense, as the Galaxy S22 series could be on the list. The company’s TM Roh spoke about it briefly, stating that the brand is “reviewing” the series to see if the Galaxy AI features can work properly on the S22 series. The obvious problem is how heavily Galaxy AI relies on the device’s hardware.
Even so, Roh seemed somewhat confident it could be done—but we’ll have to see. As for what else it might involve – the waiting game is on!
