Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday congratulated Narendra Modi on becoming the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term. Pakistan on Friday said it wanted “cooperative relations” with all its neighbours, including India. However, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, when asked why the country did not congratulate Narendra Modi on his election victory, appeared evasive.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that it is the right of the people of India to decide for themselves about their leadership, adding that her country has no need to comment on India’s election process. .
