Together we are going to defeat them in Gujarat, like we defeated them in Ayodhya, says Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi, speaking to Congress members in Ahmedabad, pledged to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP in Gujarat, drawing parallels with their success in Ayodhya.

In a passionate address to Congress workers in Ahmedabad, Rahul Gandhi asserted his commitment to vanquish Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP in Gujarat, drawing a comparison to their previous electoral success in Ayodhya. He emphasized the plight of farmers in Ayodhya who lost their land during the construction of the airport. Gandhi lamented the exclusion of Ayodhya residents from the inauguration ceremony of the Ram Temple, citing it as a symbol of neglect towards the local community.

During his visit to Gujarat, Rahul Gandhi plans to extend his condolences to families affected by recent tragic incidents in the state. This includes offering support to those impacted by the devastating Rajkot game zone fire, the tragic Vadodara boat capsize, and the Morbi bridge collapse. His visit is aimed at showing solidarity with the affected families and addressing their grievances.

Congress-BJP Clash and Subsequent Arrests
Tensions escalated recently in Gujarat following a clash between BJP and Congress workers outside the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) office, also known as Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan. The altercation was allegedly sparked by accusations of Gandhi making remarks perceived as “anti-Hindu.” The confrontation led to stone-pelting incidents resulting in injuries to seven individuals, including three police officers. The Ellisbridge police responded by filing two separate FIRs; the first against approximately 450 individuals from both parties and the second specifically targeting Congress workers based on a complaint filed by the BJP’s youth wing in Ahmedabad. This legal action resulted in the arrest of five Congress workers who are currently under judicial remand.

The political landscape in Gujarat has been increasingly tense as parties gear up for upcoming elections. Rahul Gandhi’s visit and statements underscore the Congress party’s strategy to mobilize support and address local concerns ahead of the electoral contest. The BJP, meanwhile, continues to assert its dominance in the state, prompting heated exchanges and confrontations between supporters of both parties.

To clean up the area in Ayodhya to construct the Ram Temple, a lot of land was taken from the people and till date, the Narendra Modi government has not compensated them. Secondly, an international airport was built in Ayodhya on the land of farmers and even they were not compensated properly. Thirdly, not a single person of Ayodhya was present in the Ram Temple inauguration which enraged the people. These were the reasons why NDA lost in Ayodhya and INDIA alliance won. Moderate Pezeshkian expected to win Iran’s presidential race, Iranian source says

The low-profile moderate Masoud Pezeshkian, who has pledged to open Iran to the world and deliver freedoms its people have yearned for, is expected to win the run-off presidential vote on Friday, an Iranian source told Reuters. “The vote counting has ended and the rival candidates have been informed about the result. Pezeshkian is around three million votes ahead of his hardline rival Saeed Jalili,” said the source, who asked not to be named. Earlier, the interior ministry said that Pezeshkian was leading the race in early results, adding that the initial reports showed turnout was around 50%, higher than the first round. The run-off follows a June 28 ballot with historically low turnout, when over 60% of Iranian voters abstained from the snap election for a successor to Ebrahim Raisi, following his death in a helicopter crash.

Iran holds runoff presidential vote pitting hard-liner against reformist after record low turnout

Iran held a runoff presidential election on Friday that pitted a hard-line former nuclear negotiator against a reformist lawmaker. Both men had struggled to convince a skeptical public to cast ballots in the first round of voting that saw the lowest turnout in the Islamic Republic’s history. Early results reported by Iran’s election authority on state television showed reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian narrowly ahead of hard-liner Saeed Jalili. Mohsen Eslami, the election spokesman, said Pezeshkian had 2,904,227 votes trailed by Jalili with 2,815,566 votes, with 5,819,911 votes counted in 13,277 polling stations. There are some 60,000 polling stations and more than 61 million eligible voters. Government officials up to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have predicted a higher participation rate as voting got underway, with state television airing images of modest lines at some polling centers across the country.

Deadline nears for Boeing decision on proposed MAX agreement

More than five years after two fatal 737 MAX crashes, Boeing faces a fresh legal reckoning now that prosecutors have concluded the company flouted an earlier settlement addressing the disasters. The aviation giant had been on a Friday night deadline to accept or reject a Department of Justice proposal that would require it to plead guilty to fraud during the certification of MAX airplanes, sources told AFP. There had been no public comment either way by the evening, and a lawyer for the families of the 737 crash victims, Robert Clifford, told AFP that he believed the deadline would be extended over the weekend if Boeing asked for more time.

Trump denies knowing about Project 2025, his allies’ sweeping plan to transform the US government

Donald Trump distanced himself Friday from Project 2025, a massive proposed overhaul of the federal government drafted by longtime allies and former officials in his administration, days after the head of the think tank responsible for the program suggested there would be a second American Revolution. “I know nothing about Project 2025,” Trump posted on his social media website. “I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.” The 922-page plan outlines a dramatic expansion of presidential power and a plan to fire as many as 50,000 government workers to replace them with Trump loyalists. President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign has worked to draw more attention to the agenda, particularly as Biden tries to keep fellow Democrats on board after his disastrous debate.
