The Pixel Weather app is getting a handy feature that vibrates the phone based on weather conditions.
The latest Pixel Weather app already offers great weather animations on Pixel phones. According to Mashaal Rehman (by Android Authority), the app will now have an immersive weather vibration feature that syncs with animations and weather conditions and plays corresponding audio effects.
The feature is live on the Pixel Weather app and on Pixel phones with the app bearing. 1.0.20240910.678970266.release version and is known as a server-side update.
If you’re a Pixel phone user, including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, go to your avatar on the Pixel Weather app and check the “Immersive weather vibrations” option just below the AI weather report setting (as in the shared screenshot has been seen).
Users can enable or disable the feature as per their preference. The publication further states that the new vibrations include various weather patterns including drizzle, heavy rain, snow, scattered rain and thunder along with other similar features. Along with these animations, users can experience their phone vibrating according to the weather conditions, providing an immersive experience.
It is not yet clear whether enabling this feature will affect the battery or not. As this is a gradual rollout, all Pixel phone users may have to wait a few more days to use the feature and check their battery life. We’ve already seen it live on some of our phones, and the effect is pretty cool, especially in rainy Seattle, causing the phone to produce a subtle haptic feedback that mimics rain falling on the screen. .
Although the Pixel Weather app was launched as an exclusive to the Pixel 9 series, it was later introduced for the Pixel 6 and older Google phones. It offers a brand new AI-based weather summary with a new UI, widgets, customization features, and a bunch of other useful features.
