The FBI interrupts in a second. Chinese hacking group The recovery of thousands of compromised devices was described by FBI Director Christopher on Wednesday as “just one round in a long fight.”
Said again. at the Aspen Cyber Summit in Washington and said the Chinese hacking group, known as “Flex Typhoon,” is run by a Chinese company called Integrity Technology Group.
The company, Wray said, “gathered classified information and conducted espionage for Chinese government security agencies,” posing as an IT firm.
FlexTyphoon routed malicious traffic through a network of hijacking devices called “botnets,” Wray said. In this case, the devices include cameras and digital storage devices that Wray said are commonly found in organizations large and small. Half of the compromised devices were located in the United States, he said.

As the FBI Cyber Action Team tried to gain control of the botnet, the hackers launched a DDOS cyber attack Before abandoning the botnet, according to Wray.
Wray said FlexTyphoon operates similarly to a previous hacking group known as “VoltTyphoon,” which was identified last year and is a continuing concern.
Wray said in April that Volt-Typhoon has successfully embedded itself in several major U.S. infrastructure companies, including telecommunications, energy and water, and others.
Microsoft and Google security experts Volt has previously linked the Typhoon hackers to China, and Wray said the effort was linked to U.S.-Chinese tensions over Taiwan.
Oh Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Earlier this year, the spokesperson said Volt Typhoon Part of a criminal ramsonware group and not government related.
Tackling Chinese hacking groups is an ongoing priority for the FBI, Wray said.

“The Chinese government will continue to target your organizations and our critical infrastructure, either by hand or covertly through its proxies,” Wray said.
