“Hacked by System Admin BD,” reads the Google search results page for . Zee Media website. “Zee Media’s site hacked because they made fun of the situation in Bangladesh. If they continue their dirty behavior, we will take over the news channel and destroy it,” the website’s Google search result. Page reads more.
On opening the page, a notification pops up that says “503 Service Temporarily Unavailable”.
According to the HackRead website, the website was defaced on August 21, 2024. Then the homepage showed a screenshot of a ZEE TV Bangla news article with the headline, which translated to read: “India leaves the water! Bangladesh is floating.”
According to reports, the article also contained possibly sarcastic phrases such as “Due to floods, the authorities have opened the Dambor Hydroelectric Project dam. And that’s why Bangladesh is going to float.”
Who are the SYSTEMADMINBD hackers?
SYSTEMADMINBD is a hacktivist group operating since 2023. The group has reportedly engaged in a variety of cyber activities, including defacing websites, data breaches, and hacktivism. Past attacks have included targeting government websites in Bangladesh and India, as well as businesses in Israel and Europe.
