Amanda Gallagher, an American professional photographer, died in a fatal accident at the Air Capital Drop Zone in Kansas on Saturday. The incident happened when Gallagher clicked pictures of people boarding and exiting planes and accidentally walked backwards into the propeller of an active plane.
The 37-year-old photographer was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Independent UK reported. Air Capital is located in Drop Zone, Kansas. Sky diving The company said in a statement Monday that Gallagher was on one of its flights as an observer to take photos, as reported by NBC.
“After the plane landed, for unknown reasons, when the next group of jumpers were boarding, she walked in front of the wing, a violation of basic safety procedures. To shoot photos with her camera. As she did so, she backed up slightly and headed toward the rotating propeller,” the statement said.
According to the Guardian, a GoFundMe campaign was set up to help Gallagher’s family and friends with funeral expenses, and has so far raised $14,000 (about Rs 12 lakh).
”Amanda Gallagher was kind, brave, creative, and beautiful inside and out. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed. On October 26th, Amanda died in a tragic accident while doing what she loved, skydiving and taking pictures! While his family is dealing with this tragic accident, they could use your help to cover funeral expenses. Please consider supporting them and keep them all in your prayers as well,” the campaign reads, the Guardian reported.
