Israel’s foreign minister announced Wednesday, October 2, that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has been barred from entering the country.

The decision follows Guterres’ failure to “unequivocally condemn” Iran’s recent missile attack against Israel.

“Today, I have declared UN Secretary General @antonioguterres non grata in Israel and banned him from entering the country. Anyone who does not unequivocally condemn Iran’s heinous attack on Israel. May, as almost every country in the world has done, he does not deserve it. It is the Secretary General who has condemned the massacres and sexual atrocities of the Hamas killers on the land of Israel on October 7th. Nor has there been any attempt to designate them as a terrorist organization,” the Israeli foreign minister said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
