Recently, a video has been circulating on social media showing crocodiles waving their limbs upside down in the air above the surface of the water. The video has gone viral and it is being claimed that crocodiles are ‘pretending to drown’ to lure human prey. The strange behavior of a crocodile swimming in the Barito River in Borneo, Indonesia has sparked concern among netizens. However, experts say something else.
According to a report in Science Daily, experts have rejected the idea that the crocodile drowned to lure humans into the water where it could attack them.
According to the LAD Bible, human-crocodile conflict researcher Brendan Cedillo at Charles Darwin University in Australia said he thought the crocodile’s mouth could have preyed on it, causing it to exhibit unusual behavior.

Meanwhile, the news portal quoted zoologist Graham Webb as saying, “Totally creative journalism with no facts.” Furthermore, he opined that it was possible that the crocodile had grabbed his tail, which prevented him from swimming.
Casey Holliday, a professor of pathology and anatomical sciences at the University of Missouri, told Newsweek, “Who knows what those animals did? was living or fighting something… but it wasn’t pulling people into the water.”
Hundreds of crocodile attacks are reported every year, with saltwater crocodiles being the most dangerous. Undoubtedly, crocodile attacks are terrifying, and the idea of a cruel reptile deliberately luring humans into the water to hunt them is even more alarming.
Originally, the video was shared on Instagram and gathered massive views. Additionally, netizens flooded the comments section expressing their concerns. However, the account that posted the video has gone private.
