After eight centuries of silence, a volcano in Iceland has come back to life in spectacular fashion. The volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwest Iceland erupted for the seventh time this year. This is the volcano’s 10th eruption since 2021, when it came to life after being dormant for 800 years.

The latest eruption sent plumes of smoke into the sky and lava flows toward the Blue Lagoon, a major tourist attraction near Grindavik, Iceland.
