A salon owner in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanauj district has been arrested after a video of him spitting on customers during a massage surfaced on social media. The video, which went viral, revealed Muhammad Yusuf repeatedly spitting on his palm and then using it to massage a customer’s face.

In response to which the administration took immediate action and demolished Yusuf’s stall with a bulldozer. Charges related to aggressive acts have been filed against him.

VHP demands action against saloon owner

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists also protested, demanding strict action against the saloon owner. According to the report, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Shashank Singh and customer Pandit Ashish Kumar of Unnao filed the FIR. After which the accused barber was arrested and handed over to judicial custody.

After the FIR was registered, the police arrested Yusuf, who had been evading arrest since the video surfaced. He is now in custody and being questioned on charges of hurting public sentiments.

Muhammad Yusuf used to run a roadside stall in Telegram Nagar Panchayat, Chhabramau, offering services like haircuts and massages. The video drew a significant response, particularly from Hindu organisations, with former BJP MP Subrata Pathak condemning the act as “wholesale jihad” and calling for immediate police action. .

The 40-second video was reportedly shot by the barber himself. At the end of the clip, both the barber and the customer can be seen smiling and giving the camera a thumbs up. The video has sparked backlash and netizens have demanded action against the barber.

This is not the only incident. In early June, a video from Lucknow went viral showing a salon worker massaging a customer’s face with his spit.
